'Fulfilling Development Aspirations is True Tribute to Martyrs'

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that achieving development and prosperity is the true tribute to Nepal’s martyrs. In his message on the occasion of Martyrs Day, he emphasized that honoring their sacrifices requires commitment to sustainable peace, good governance, and national progress under the federal democratic republican system.

The President paid homage to all known and unknown martyrs, including Shukraraj Shastri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha, who laid down their lives for democracy and national sovereignty. He urged all citizens and political parties to dedicate themselves to realizing the vision of a just and developed Nepal.

Marking the occasion, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav also praised the martyrs’ courage as a source of inspiration for building a prosperous and self-reliant nation. He called for unity and collective efforts to uphold the values of inclusiveness and democracy.

Martyrs Day, observed annually on Magh 16, commemorates those who sacrificed their lives in Nepal’s struggle against the Rana oligarchy, the Panchayat system, and monarchy, ensuring the sovereignty of the Nepali people.
